Location:

The canton of Tilarán is located in the northwest of the country, 190 kilometers (Km) from the capital San José. 22 km southwest of the canton of Cañas where the Inter-American highway passes.
It is the eighth canton of the province of Guanacaste. Its extension is 632.15 km2.

Limits:

East: with the canton of San Carlos.
West: with the canton of Cañas.
North: with the canton of Guatuso.
South: with the canton of Abangares.
